Ingredients

  • 1 pint ripe strawberries hulled and halved
  • ½ cup fresh citrus juice lemon or orange juice for brightness
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup optional, for added sweetness
  • ½ cup water or sparkling water chilled
  • 1 cup ice cubes adjust based on desired thickness

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Place the halved strawberries into the blender and pulse a few times to break them down slightly.
  2. Add the fresh citrus juice and honey to the blender, pouring over the strawberries.
  3. Pour in the chilled water or sparkling water, and then add the ice cubes for a chilled, slushy texture.
  4. Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth, bright, and frosty, about 30-45 seconds.
  5. Stop the blender and check the consistency—if it's too thick, add a splash more water and blend briefly; if too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend again.
  6. Pour the vibrant pink slushie into glasses, noticing the icy, juicy texture and inviting aroma of fresh strawberries and citrus.
  7. Garnish with a fresh strawberry or a sprig of mint if desired, then serve immediately with a straw for instant refreshment.
