Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice strained for smoothness
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 2 cups crushed ice preferably made from ice cubes

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Pour the fresh lemon juice into the blender, ensuring it’s strained to remove pulp and seeds for a smooth texture.
  2. Add the granulated sugar to the lemon juice, then pulse a few times to start dissolving the sugar and blending the flavors together.
  3. Pour in the crushed ice, filling the blender to about two-thirds full for optimal blending and icy results.
  4. Secure the lid on the blender and blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth, thick, and icy, with a slushy consistency that looks fluffy and evenly combined.
  5. Stop the blender and check the texture — it should be cold, creamy, and scoopable, with tiny ice crystals visible.
  6. Pour the lemonade slushie into chilled glasses, and garnish with a lemon wedge or a sprig of mint if desired for extra visual appeal.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw or a spoon to enjoy its refreshing, icy texture firsthand.

Notes

For an extra fizzy twist, add a splash of soda or sparkling water just before serving. Adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired. For a lighter version, replace some of the crushed ice with cold water or coconut water.
