Ingredients

  • 1 package chocolate instant pudding mix for pudding
  • 2 cups cold milk to prepare pudding
  • 1 container cookies (such as Oreo or chocolate wafer cookies) crushed into dirt crumbs
  • 1 cup gummy worms for crawling surprises
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or mini chocolate candies optional topping
  • 1 cup whipped topping or whipped cream for finishing

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Serving dish
  • Spatula
  • Refrigerator

Method

  1. Combine the chocolate pudding mix with cold milk in a mixing bowl and whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes until thickened and smooth.
  2. Fold in the whipped topping into the pudding until fully combined, creating a light and creamy mixture.
  3. Crush the cookies into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or food processor. These will resemble dirt and serve as the base layer.
  4. Spread a layer of cookie crumbs evenly at the bottom of your serving dish, pressing down slightly to form a solid base that looks like dirt.
  5. Spoon a generous layer of the chocolate pudding mixture over the crumb base, smoothing the surface with a spatula for an even layer.
  6. Add a handful of gummy worms on top of the pudding layer, placing some partially submerged to make them look squirming underneath.
  7. Create additional layers of cookie crumbs and pudding, repeating the process to build up the layers, finishing with a final crumb layer and some gummy worms on top for extra creepiness.
  8. Decorate the top with chocolate chips or mini candies to add some spooky sparkle, and sprinkle a little more cookie crumbs for a realistic dirt effect.
  9. Refrigerate the finished dirt cake for at least 2 hours to set completely and allow the flavors to meld.
  10. Remove from refrigerator, serve in slices, and enjoy the gooey, crunchy, and chewy textures with a spooky vibe.
