Hi, I’m Madison Greene, the creator behind Texture Obsessed.

If you have ever fallen in love with the crunch of a perfectly toasted crust, the silkiness of a smooth custard, or the contrast between crispy and creamy in a single bite, then you already understand what inspires me.

Texture Obsessed is my space to celebrate the way food feels, not just the way it tastes. For me, texture is the secret language of great cooking.

Where My Fascination Began

I grew up in Chicago, Illinois, in a family that appreciated good food but did not talk much about technique. Still, I noticed things.

I noticed how I always reached for the corner piece of brownies because it had crisp edges. I scraped the golden crust off baked mac and cheese first. I preferred chunky peanut butter over smooth.

Even as a child, I was drawn to contrast. Crunch with creaminess. Crisp with tenderness. Lightness with chew.

In high school, I started baking seriously. My first successful loaf of artisan bread changed everything. When I tapped the crust and heard that hollow sound, I felt a sense of pride I had never experienced before. That crackling crust became my standard.

Education and Culinary Growth

I studied journalism at Northwestern University because storytelling felt natural to me. At the same time, I took elective culinary classes and spent weekends experimenting in my small apartment kitchen.

After college, I worked briefly in food media as an editorial assistant. I helped test recipes and edit cooking articles. That job opened my eyes to how recipes are developed and refined for home cooks.

During testing, I often found myself focusing on texture notes. I would write comments like “needs more crunch” or “too dense” or “could use a lighter crumb.”

Eventually, I realized that texture was not just something I noticed. It was something I deeply cared about.

The Birth of Texture Obsessed

The idea for Texture Obsessed started after a dinner party.

I had made a layered dessert with a crunchy base, creamy middle, and airy whipped topping. A friend took a bite and said, “This is so satisfying because every spoonful feels different.”

That word stuck with me. Satisfying.

I began thinking about how often recipes focus primarily on flavor while overlooking texture. Yet texture is what makes a bite memorable. It is what keeps you reaching for another forkful.

I started the blog as a way to explore that idea more deeply. I wanted to create recipes where texture was intentional, not accidental.

My Cooking Philosophy

I believe that texture is just as important as taste.

Here is what guides my approach:

• Build contrast into every dish
• Balance crisp, creamy, chewy, and tender elements
• Pay attention to cooking times and temperatures
• Respect technique, especially in baking
• Never settle for one dimensional bites

A salad should have crunch. A soup should have body. A dessert should surprise you.

When you start thinking about texture, your cooking changes. You become more aware. More precise. More creative.

Life Beyond the Blog

When I am not testing recipes, you will find me exploring local bakeries, comparing croissants, or perfecting homemade granola for the ideal cluster size.

I also enjoy food photography because capturing texture visually is just as exciting as creating it. A crackled crust or glossy ganache tells its own story.
